Mother's Day 2013
Mother's day is notoriously the one day of the year that I do not look forward to. Ever since Patrick was a baby, it seems that every Mother's day has been full of all the tasks that mom's relish the least. Last night while the kids were getting ready for bed, I overheard Heath telling them to "remember, tomorrow is Mother's day..."
This morning I was rudely awoken by our very own howling dog at 5:20 am. Oh well I grabbed a sweatshirt and a blanket and thought I'll let him out and curl up on the couch for awhile. Yeah right! No sooner did I lay down that I could hear multiple feet stomping around above me followed by 1, then 2, then 3 kids bounding down the stairs. (Jack is the only one that takes after Daddy and likes to sleep in) Even though I thought it was entirely too early for them to be up, it was wonderful to have each one of them join me on the couch and wish me a happy mother's day. And THAT it was!
I had to laugh when after church, some arguing started among the 4 of them over who would sit where in the truck, and Patrick reminded them "guys, remember what daddy said last night, what day is it?" It made my heart smile knowing that they were consciously making the effort to make the day better. It is my prayer that all of us enter each day wanting to make it great and to bless those around us. I am thankful for the opportunity to be a mom to the four great kids that God has trusted to my care. I hope that I can make their days as special as they make mine. Happy Mother's Day!
